Needs a computer upgrade! Date: August 29, 2009
"I have had My Agile DMT for over a month now, and I wanted to wait at least that long before I entered a comment here.

I have used an inexpensive (Nordic Track) elliptical at home for over 5 years, and I wore it out with 5-6 days per week usage. I tried a lot of ellipticals, both in stores and in hotels and gyms. I like Precor, and I was very tempted to spend an additional $1500 to buy one verses purchasing the Smooth, which I had never tried.

Although my subsequent search of forums has indicated that there ARE ways to "road test" the Agile DMT before purchase, this is not practical for most shoppers. Still, to make such a purchase "sight unseen" requires a lot of faith. And my decision to proceed with the purchase was lacking in faith.

Upon delivery (I bought the free delivery to the location of assembly but put the device together myself), I was not impressed. The delivery guys did deliver the boxes to the general area where I wanted them, but were unwilling to make sure the box was properly oriented front-to-back in the small space where I planned to place my new trainer.

My son and I assembled the machine in about 4 hours, counting the time spent removing parts from the packaging and moving large and heavy parts into place. I do advise watching the video, but the currently posted one is out-of-date. Smooth should update it.

I stored all of the packaging material, because I wanted to reserve the option of a return and refund if the machine was not up to my expectations. A prospecive buyer should realize that - even though Smooth offers a 30-day money back guarantee - this is a problematic warranty. To return the Agile DMT after assembly would be a laborious and expensive proposition! You would have to be able to disassemble and then repackage the parts (which I estimate would take the better part of a day, maybe two). Then you would have to find and pay a shipper to return it, probably about $500 or more. If Smooth wants to boost the confidence of prospective buyers, they should include this labor and cost in their warranty.

My first workout on my new trainer was a little disconcerting. My immediate response to the "feel" of the motion (which was dissimilar to what I am used to from elliptical trainers) was unsettling.

But, my (by far) biggest disappointment was the console computer. I could go on and on here. I just can't understand why Smooth places a bottom-end computer in their top-end machine! The built-in programs are okay, but you can't record a custom program. In fact, you can't even store user information! No, you must re-enter your weight and age every time - and you have to use arrow keys to do it, because there is no keypad to input numbers. Incredible! My cheap, 5-year-old Nordic Track had, by far, a better computer console! It doesn't even provide a summary of the workout at the end. Regardless of my upcoming comments, any prospective buyer should realize that, at this time, the Agile DMT has an extremely inferior computer console!!!

All this said, I must now say that I really like my Agile DMT. After a couple of weeks, I've gotten used to it's feel, and now appreciate the full-body workout it provides.

I went out of town and worked out in hotels on (high-end) Precor and a LifeFitness ellipticals, all the while wishing I was back at home using my Smooth!

It grows on you, you will love the workout this machine can provide.

If Smooth will improve their computer console (and offer an upgrade to us current users), I think they could increase sales and even justify some increase in price. Upgrade their warranty to include repackaging and shipping , and they would clean up!

My downgrades on the ratings (small though they are) are almost totally based on the very poor computer/console. If this is not important to you, then buy this fine trainer!"

Great machine Date: June 22, 2009
"My initial reaction after opening the product is that the amount of plastic makes the machine seem cheap. I think the company could have used a better quality material for the shroud.
The metal was heavy and of good quality. The instructions for assembly were easy to follow. The machine went together nicely and all parts fit.
The test came when I got on the machine and started using it. This machine provides for a great workout. It is smooth and quiet. It does everything it is advertised to do. It is very stable and the programs work well. The adjustable motion adds to the ability/agility of the machine over a standard elliptical.
The instructions for use and care are lacking. Even with the shortcomings of plastic and poor instructions for use and care, I would buy the machine again. It will challege most people wishing for a great wrokout."

"I got my Agile DMT and was a little leery because it seemed inexpensive for what it allegedly does. Well I am here to tell you that I am an ex football player and a big guy. This machine is bullet proof. It is very quiet and very smooth, dont be scared of this one it is of great value."

Great for our Family Date: March 13, 2009
"We recieved our CE 7.4 and have been using it for a few months now. My husband and boys are all around 6" tall and I was concerned about it being too long of a stride for me. I am 5"4' and the machine seems to be perfect. I am writing this so the smaller people out there know that this would be a good machine for everyone."
